Pierre Schoeller

Pierre Schoeller begins his career as a screenwriter for film and television. In 1996, he makes a short film, Deux amis, and in 2003, a TV movie for Arte, Zéro défaut, starring Eric Elmosnino. In 2008, Pierre Schoeller directs his first feature film, Versailles. He plays a man living in a cabin, cut off from everything, in the woods near the Château de Versailles. The film is nominated for two César Awards and sold nearly 130,000 tickets.

With his second feature, The Minister, Pierre Schoeller attracts over 500,000 spectators and the movie is selected at Cannes in the Un Certain Regard section. The film also attracts the interest of the César Academy, with 8 nominations and 3 statuettes: César for Best Sound, Best Screenplay, and a first César for Michel Blanc.

In 2013, Pierre Schoeller directs a TV movie for Canal+, The Anonymous, and sets up his camera in Iraqi Kurdistan, for The Lost Time, a documentary intended for Arte in 2014. Pierre Schoeller also continues to work as a screenwriter, collaborating on Danielle Arbid's film Parisienne, released in 2016.

In 2018, he releases his third feature film One Nation, One King, a look back at the French Revolution, starring Gaspard Ulliel, Adèle Haenel, Olivier Gourmet, and Louis Garrel.
