Jean Paul Civeyrac

Born in 1964, Jean Paul Civeyrac studied philosophy at the University of Lyon III, then joined La Fémis Film School. He directs a series of acclaimed short films, including Life According to Luc, which wins the Munich International Great Prize and is selected in the Cannes Film Festival. In 1992, he directs Pierre-Erwan Guillaume's play Les Somnanbules at the Théâtre Marie Stuart in Paris. Since Neither Eve Nor Adam, his first feature film released in 1997, Jean Paul Civeyrac has directed five films, including Les Solitaires and Fantômes, both Great Prize Prix at the Entrevues de Belfort in 1999 and 2001. In 2003, Jean Paul Civeyrac directs a TV film for Arte, inspired by Anne Wiazemsky's Hymnes à l'amour, All the Fine Promises (Jean Vigo Prize 2003), and a short film for their Portraits collection, Tristesse beau visage, selected for the Director’s Fortnight in 2004. At the same time, he was director of the directing department at La Fémis from 2000 to 2010. He also directed Young girls in black, My Friend Victoria, A Paris Education (Panorama selection at the Berlinale 2018) and in 2022 A Woman, with Sophie Marceau.
