Axelle Ropert

Born in 1972, Axelle Ropert was editor of La Lettre du Cinéma until 2005, then film critic for Les Inrockuptibles. She takes part in Le Cercle, a program of debate and cinephile criticism on current events in the 7th Art, presented by Frédéric Beigbeder on Canal+ Cinéma.

She works on the screenplays for Serge Bozon's films Mods, La France, Tip Top and Mrs. Hyde. In 2004, she directs a medium-length film, Etoile violette, with Lou Castel, followed by her first feature, The Wolberg Family, in 2008, with François Damiens and Valérie Benguigui, selected for the Director’s Fortnight in Cannes.

Four years later, at the end of 2012, she directs her second feature film, Miss and the Doctors, with Louise Bourgoin, Cédric Kahn and Laurent Stocker. In 2016, she directs The Apple of My Eye with Mélanie Bernier and Bastien Bouillon, presented at the Locarno Film Festival.

Her latest film, Petite Solange, starring Philippe Katerine and Léa Drucker, is awarded the 2021 Jean Vigo Prize.
