Becoming Traviata
Spring 2011, Jean-François Sivadier staged La Traviata in Aix-en-Provence, Louis Langrée conducted the London Symphony Orchestra, Natalie Dessay was Violetta. For two months, from the rehearsal rooms behind the scenes of the Théâtre de l'Archevêché, a film crew followed their work as closely as possible. How do you become La Traviata? How does history appear to us on a theater set? How is emotion reborn under the baton of the conductor, between the ranks of the orchestra and the choir? How is the magic of opera reproduced and renewed? How does incarnation take place?
