Sébastien Laudenbach

A former student at the Ecole des Arts Décoratifs de Paris and professor of animated film at the same school since 2001, Sébastien Laudenbach is now an animated film director and illustrator. He has made six animated short films, including Journal (awarded in Clermont-Ferrand, Rennes, New-York, etc.), Des câlins dans les cuisines (awarded in Madrid), and Vasco (Critics' Week - Cannes 2011, awarded in Brussels, Belo Horizonte). His work has been selected in numerous international festivals: Clermont-Ferrand, Annecy, New-York, Montreal, Hiroshima, Rio de Janeiro, Sao Paulo, Barcelona... In 2017, he directs Vibrato for the 3e Scène, the digital platform of the Paris Opera.

His colorful, storyboard-free animation, often improvised shot by shot, inhabits his feature film The Girl Without Hands, drawn alone over nine months. The film wins him the Jury Prize at the Annecy International Animation Film Festival in 2016.

He is also a movie credits designer (Laissons Lucie Faire!, Please, please me!, The Art of Love, by Emmanuel Mouret) and poster designer (films, festivals).

Finally, he is one of the founding members of OuAniPo (Potential Animation Workshop), which develops experimental research into the moving image and creates the concept of cryptokinography.

In 2020, he co-directs the short film A comme Azur with Chiara Malta, followed by the feature Linda veut du poulet !, which wins the Feature Cristal at the Annecy International Animation Film Festival (2023).
