Christophe Honoré

Born in Brittany, Christophe Honoré has written some thirty books for children, mainly published by L'Ecole des Loisirs. He also writes novels published by Editions de l'Olivier, including L'Infamille (1997), La Douceur (1999), Scarborough (2002) and Le livre pour enfants (2005). He has published Ton Père (2018) with Mercure de France.

He has collaborated on several screenplays for filmmakers such as Gaël Morel and Louis Garrel. He turns to directing in 2002, with Seventeen Times Cécile Cassard, followed by My Mother (2004), In Paris (2006) and Love Songs (2007), in Competition at the Cannes Film Festival. He adapted Madame de Lafayette for The Beautiful Person (2008), followed by Making Plans for Lena (2009), Man at Bath, Beloved (2011), Metamorphoses (2014), Sophie’s Misfortunes (2016) and Sorry Angel (2018) in Competition at the 2018 Cannes Film Festival, which wins the Louis Delluc Prize. On a Magical Night (2019) is presented in the Official selection Un Certain Regard at the Cannes Film Festival, where it wins the Acting Award for Chiara Mastroianni. Since then, Guermantes (2021) and Winter Boy (2022) have been released, for which Paul Kircher was nominated for a César for Best Male Actor and won the Acting Award at the San Sebastian Film Festival.

Christophe Honoré has directed several of his own plays. In 2018, he sets up his own theater company, Comité dans Paris, with whom he created Les Idoles and Le Ciel de Nantes, both of which won the Critics’ Prize He also directed the Comédie Française troupe in an adaptation of Marcel Proust's Côté de Guermantes.
