Everyone knows that Reuben is a Jew, a homosexual, a postman, half-Finnish, half-French, an unworthy son, a disobliging brother, a disappointing lover, a dubious murderer, a thief in spite of himself... Yet Reuben is unable to know who he is. At the great turning point in his life, as the waves of the Red Sea open up before him, Ruben hesitates: should he follow his people or his heart?
